Learn more about REACH, the mission behind the organization, and the founder – Greg Emanuelson. He began his career in behavioral health by working the suicide prevention hotline in Columbus, Ohio in 1989.

Greg Emanuelson

Our Founder

Greg Emanuelson, PhD., LPCC-S

Greg earned his Master’s Degree in Clinical Community Counseling at The Ohio State University immediately followed by completing his Doctorate in Counselor Education at The University of Akron.

Expanded Knowledge of the Healthcare System

Greg has worked in a variety of behavioral healthcare settings such as inpatient detox, residential, and outpatient community behavioral health, and currently he serves as an adjunct faculty member in Kent State University’s Counselor Education and Supervision program.  

 

Able To Accommodate Any Patient Needs

He has worked with children, adolescents, adults and the geriatric population and specializes in working with those individuals with co-occurring disorders.  Greg is fully trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, working towards achieving EMDRIA certification, as well as working towards earning his Certified Clinical Trauma Professional II status.  

 

Connected and Community-Driven

Additionally,  Greg has been a member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT), having been trained by Bill Miller and Theresa Moyer on how to effectively train others in Motivational Interviewing.  Greg uses interventions from a variety of different evidenced based practices, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), in order to match a client’s clinical needs. 

 

 

Fundamental-Based Approach

Fundamentally Greg’s approach to counseling is to provide a trauma-informed, supportive environment that promotes change, progress and long-term recovery.  He entered the counseling profession to make a difference in the lives of his clients – “To change the world of one is to change the world entire.”

 

Emphasis on Education and Training

As a trainer and consultant, Greg has given presentations throughout Ohio and Michigan at state conferences or at the request of private organizations or community behavioral health boards.  Topics have included Motivational Interviewing, supervision, documentation, co-occurring disorders and legal & ethical issues just to name a few

 

Experienced in Supervision, Consultation 

and Training

Experienced in supervising counselor trainees (CT), interns, licensed professional counselors (LPC) as well as provided administrative supervision to a variety of clinicians.
